On January 6th, 2016, the Wilson team organized an acreage auction in Posey County, Indiana. The ninety-eight acre land sale went for a total of $10,736 per acre, or about $1.05 million, and earned the “Land Sale of the Week” honor at AgWeb, a celebrated source of farming information for top producers in the industry. With AgWeb being powered by Farm Journal Media—one of America’s most respected and recognized media brands—we’re honored to have been highlighted and acknowledged by such a renowned authority.
The farmland sold was located about seven miles southeast of Poseyville and encompassed nearly 71 tillable acres. Although the selection was mostly made up of woodlands, fifty acres were listed as zone R-1. The selection was also estimated to be $14,864 per acre when recorded on a per-tillable-acre basis.
Although the land sale was listed as seven different districts, it was eventually sold as a single unit to the seasoned tenant of the land. There was no Buyer’s Premium at this specific sale, but we do believe in using a Buyer’s Premium as a tool for our clients.
