Our Founder. Continuing the Legacy - Carrying Forward.

There are some men and women whose names become part of a community.

For many people throughout our region, my father was simply "Bill Wilson."

They knew him as an auctioneer.

A real estate broker.

A businessman.

A volunteer.

A coach.

A mentor.

A friend.

I knew him simply as Dad.

As I've reflected during these past days, I've realized that Dad left us two legacies.

One is easy to see.

It's our offices. The Auction Center. Our signs dotting the landscape.

It's the business he founded in 1985.

It's the thousands of auctions, real estate transactions, friendships, and handshakes that became part of the story of William Wilson Auction & Realty.

The second legacy is much harder to see.

It lives inside the people he influenced.

Dad believed your word mattered.

He believed people deserved honesty.

He believed that if you treated people fairly, your reputation would take care of itself.

Those lessons weren't written in an employee handbook.

They were lived every day.

Nearly twenty years ago, Dad entrusted me with leading the company that carries his name.

People may assume that means I stepped into his shoes.

The truth is, no one can.

There will only ever be one Bill Wilson.

Instead, my responsibility--and the responsibility of everyone on our team--is to carry forward the principles that made his life meaningful.

To continue serving families with integrity.

To honor every commitment.

To remember that behind every auction or real estate transaction is a family placing its trust in us.

The sign on our buildings and signs across the company say William Wilson Auction & Realty.

His name. He lived it. Every day.

And I am incredibly privileged that I was able to live it with him for 47 years.

You see, for as long as I was old enough to remember, I have been with my dad.

In the truck. Going to auctions. Meeting with clients. Talking with people everywhere we went.

It was clear to me early on what it meant to be in his shoes.

The arched logo with its gavel reminds us of the standard he expects us to uphold.

I was only five years old, but I cannot imagine the gravity of that decision to place your own name on a logo. But he did it with full confidence in knowing the reputation and legacy he wanted to create.

Dad often measured success differently than most people.

It wasn't just about sales.

It was about relationships.

About helping people.

About leaving your community better than you found it.

By those measures, he lived an extraordinary life.

He gave it everything he had and he did it his way.

His work here is now finished.

Ours continues.

And every day we unlock the doors to this business, we will strive to be worthy of the name that is on the sign.

Thank you, Dad.

We'll take it from here.
