Now in its 35th year, we think The Auction Center is just getting started. As the region's largest auction marketplace, buyers and sellers come from all over the midwest to experience the excitement of the auction.

In 1987, less than five years after the company was started, our founder William “Bill” Wilson (aka dad) built a building.

On a slab of concrete at a site that formerly housed a sizable grain storage mill on the eastern edge of our small hometown in New Harmony, Indiana. A town of approximately 800-people.

The rest they say, is history.

The Auction Center has grown to serve more-and-more over the years. Originally 5,000 square feet it has more than doubled in size on nearly 10-acres, with additional storage facilities onsite to accommodate a large volume of assets.

In 35 years:

  • 4,500+ clients have been served

  • 200,000+ attendees - and therefore we assume 200,000+ hot dogs, hamburgers, and our friends from QBs world famous bbq!

  • $15+ Million in Assets sold of all types

In the early days, the New Harmony School Booster Club served lunches–benefitting school athletics and activities for more than 20-years. Food trucks, hot dog carts, and other activities can be found on modern auction days. Buyers come for the food and social nature, and continue to look for those bargains and unique finds.

Now in its 35th year, we think The Auction Center is just getting started. As the region's largest auction marketplace, buyers and sellers come from all over the midwest to experience the excitement of the auction.

What we think is most remarkable about 35-years, is the voluminous book of stories we could produce of families and clients who have trusted our company to sell their most valuable assets. The stories of unique items that have been discovered. The stories of today’s bargain find. The stories of record prices achieved.

We are often asked what the most unique/highest price item we have sold… or which is our favorite/most exciting/largest auction.

The truth is, they are all big!

Auction is what we do. On auction days, we wake up ready to go to work. And for 35-years, we have gone to work to conduct the business of our trusted clients at The Auction Center. Selling their most valuable assets. In our hometown.

And while in today’s market we conduct auctions in multiple states, across multiple platforms…The Auction Center is homebase. The epicenter of what we do.

I, personally, am thankful that dad had the idea to start The Auction Center in 1987. I was 8 years old when it opened, and so I can truthfully say I have known many of our customers most of my life. Each month, I have had the opportunity to share with them and learn more about them and their families. To talk to them about a large purchase they were considering making at the auction. To learn from them, about an item I had little experience with.

And so, with this occasion, we want to know from you:

What is your favorite experience at The Auction Center? Your best find?

All of them?!!
