“Results like these are evidence of the current climate around buying land in Indiana. The demand remains high, while the availability of land to buy is low – thereby continuing to drive prices upwards,” said Wilson, adding, “This is a trend we predict will continue into the future, as we work with our clients to maximize the value of their land assets.”

Regionally based auction firm William Wilson Auction Realty recently completed the sale of 2,000+ acres and improvements in Lawrence and Morgan Counties in Indiana following a June 1 auction date.

According to company President Andrew Wilson, record prices were realized in the sale for the area, as land values continue to climb across the Midwest, especially Indiana.

“With this auction, it was clear that buyers were eager to acquire more land and willing to pay strong prices,” said Wilson, noting that the auction garnered more than 70,000-hits to the company’s websites and more than 100 bidders registered for the auction. Bidding was conducted both live and online, with a livestream on the day of the auction for viewers to watch.

Following are some of the highlights of the sale:

  1. 36-acres wooded and tillable land at $10,482 per acre (Tract 1)
  2. 255- acres rolling pastureland at $10,600 per acre (Tracts 12, 19, 20, 21 combined)
  3. 94-acres along US-50 East of Bedford at $10,374 per acre (Tract 29)
  4. 40-acres in Morgan County sold at more than $13,000 per acre (Tract 32)
  5. 381-acres mostly tillable cropland with a 109,000-bushel grain storage facility sold at $2,968,000 – or $7,780 per acre
